What is Included:

Our training includes in-depth courses to learn the ins and outs of powered paraglider flying, maintenance, and ownership. We pride ourselves on having an industry leading syllabus and training program. You will be taught the fundamentals of weather, glider design, airspace, federal regulations, motor maintenance, and many tips that would take years to learn on your own.

We are one of only a few full service schools in the U.S. to offer FREE rental for ALL our state-of-the-art equipment (motors, wings, helmets, radios, floatation, etc). We don’t want you to feel pressured to buy equipment without knowing exactly what it is you want, from an educated, experience based perspective, rather than one solely based on marketing.

What We Teach:

Aviator Paramotor offers foot launch (and trike launch) paramotor training. We currently train nearly 300 students per year, and while training time varies from student to student, it generally takes 8-14 days to go from zero to hero. We work hard to ensure that students are safe and confident in their PPG skills so they can launch, maneuver and land their paramotors skillfully without assistance or challenge. Emphasis is placed on safety from the beginning, along with fully understanding the rules, regulations, physics & complexities of the sport.

Schedule:

In order to offer a premium training experience, we schedule our classes in both of our rooms, to serve your needs in 10-day blocks. Beautiful Florida weather allows us to train year-round! Our program is tailored to each student’s aptitude but always conducted in groups, as learning with others not only makes the course a lot more fun but also maximizes the learning opportunities for each member of the class. Course slots are limited so there is at least one instructor for every two students. We generally have training space available within 90-120 days.

Our training syllabus uses the USPPA PPG2 course as its foundation, but with additional elements and refinement based on over 60 years of cumulative paramotor instruction by our staff.

Training days are packed-full with ground-handling kiting practice of various gliders, classroom work, paramotor simulator sessions, and winch towed flights to refine launch and landing technique without the complication of the motor. Tandem flights assure your confidence and allow us to teach oscillation control.

By day 3 or 4, dependent upon your aptitude and weather conditions, you’ll be ready for your first solo flight! Subsequent days of training include numerous flights in the mornings and evenings during which you will continue to refine the skills you need to safely and enjoyably fly on your own, as well as afternoons spent refining ground handling skills and completing the classroom syllabus

Where Do We Teach?

Our full time paramotor schools are located in central Florida, Lake Wales (airport code X07). We offer a beautiful training environment, generally excellent weather, and full service training.

We have the original “Red Barn” schoolhouse, and our North Complex hangar the home of our shipping and fulfillment center, second schoolhouse,  and access hundreds of acres of flying fields.

We also offer yearly travel classes during the summer months.

What is Class Like at Aviator Paramotor?

In addition to our full-time staff, we have a dedicated training facility with a massive flying site and use the most state-of-the-art training tactics available today.

Ideally, height and weight proportionate, exercises regularly and can lift and move with 45-60lbs on your back

Due to manufacturer guidelines and in order to provide a safe training experience, Aviator Paramotor schools operate under these guidelines regarding weight:

  • Our established safe training limit is 300lbs.
  • We require all students to be under/at 300lbs.

We uphold this policy in the following ways:

  • At 30 days, students 250lbs and over will be notified to provide confirmation that the standard has been met.
  • At the start of each session, our students weigh in.

Failure to meet the weight requirements will result in dismissal of the student from the training session.

6-8 students per class, with 4-6 instructors ensure our students get as much personal attention as needed.

Powered paragliding is by far the CHEAPEST way to fly! Training is only $3,849 and then you can expect to spend $8,000 – $12,000 for your gear.

We have professional facilities at the Lake Wales Municipal Airport in Lake Wales, FL

Our training courses almost always begin on a Saturday and run for 14 days straight. Most students stay for the entire experience but some complete their training in as little as 8-10 days.

Physical Training Requirements:

Students often underestimate the physical work of training (it looks easy on YouTube, right?!). Early mornings and long days for the duration of the course are the norm. We use a fast paced, building block style training: . Be prepared to sweat! Students who come conditioned for running and working outside for much of the training find the whole process to be much more enjoyable.

To be upfront, our pace and long hours can be daunting for the sedentary, or those that do not exercise regularly. We are not saying it is impossible, only that our program requires a level of sustained fitness throughout the 14 days. Each day you are taught a new skill that culminates in flight. The students that come through who are not physically where they need to be have a much more difficult time.

We know that YouTube makes flying paramotors look easy. What you often don’t see is the exhaustion, pulled muscles, joint strains, etc. Use your goal of flight to get yourself as physically fit as possible to get the most out of our program. We encourage you, if you’re excited about flight, do not put this off. Being in shape will make this easier and more fun!

Plan for a full 14 days as paramotoring is a 100% weather dependent sport. (We build in time for weather delays)

Due to manufacturer guidelines and in order to provide a safe training experience, Aviator Paramotor schools operate under these strict guidelines regarding weight and age: You must be under 300lbs and over 18 years of age.
